Visit to the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast

The Gulf Coast Foundation is a private, nonprofit
land trust that works with land owners and regional
government to protect and preserve the bays, beaches
and barrier islands that define the character and
ecology of our region. It is an amazing organization
that has, in the few years it has existed, saved major
portions of land, helped in conservation easements,
and created parks for communities. To join and
learn more about the Foundation check out their website:
www.conservationfoundation.com

The Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast had
recently opened its Bay Preserve in Osprey to the
public. Clyde has been involved with the Foundation
since its inception, but unfortunately he was busy
and couldn't join Jackie, me and the kiddo's on a
visit to the Foundation.

When the Foundation received this piece of property
it was in need of some repairs and updates. They
worked hard to make this a place where educational
events and fun activities can take place. We wanted
to see how they were progressing and was very much
amazed at all they achieved!

As we entered the property we were fortunate to be
greeted by Albert and Pauline Joerger, the founders
of the Foundation. It is always fun to talk with
them and hear about their latest adventures in
acquiring properties along the Gulf Coast to preserve.

The latest acquisition was a piece of property in Venice
to create a public park at 100 West Tampa Ave which
secures permanent public access to the Intra Coastal
waterway and increase open space for future generations.

Not only does the Foundation save and protect
the environment of the Gulf Coast, it has also
saved this wonderful piece of historical
architecture for it's offices.

The inside of the Foundation building is
beautiful down to the last detail...and the
art on the walls consists of images Clyde
has taken along the Gulf Coast.

It is always an inspiration to visit with Albert
and Pauline. They are filled with a wonderful
abundance of positive energy. It is a joy
to be around them!

The afternoon was a wonderful experience for
the kids and a pleasure for Jackie & I.

I think this is perfect because we have to preserve the beach boarders, and other protected regions, I think it's a good initiative to having a better world.
